A 10-Year Journey: “Proud of Vietnamese Brand Products and Services”

In 2009, the “Vietnamese People Prioritize Using Vietnamese Goods” campaign was launched, calling on the public to support Vietnamese products. At that time, there was fierce competition between domestic and foreign goods in the local market. Export turnover also dropped sharply, and many businesses scaled back production. Consumers preferred “foreign” goods, and moreover, foreign products and companies often received more favorable treatment than their domestic counterparts. 

The campaign’s purpose was to “Strongly promote patriotism, the will for self-reliance, self-strengthening, national pride, build a consumer culture for Vietnamese people, and produce more high-quality, competitive Vietnamese goods to meet both domestic and export demands.”

In 2026, after 17 years of implementing the campaign, many positive signals have emerged. Domestic products are gradually establishing a solid foothold. Notably, many products and brands from Vietnamese businesses across various sectors have successfully conquered both domestic and international markets. Examples include: Vinamilk, Nutifood, Pinaco, Hòa Phát, Viettel, Vietnam Airlines, etc.

The encouraging result is that products from Vietnamese businesses are gradually capturing the domestic market and earning significant consumer trust. According to the Institute of Social Opinion, nearly 70% of Vietnamese people choose high-quality Vietnamese goods with appropriate prices and designs.

Explaining “Make in Vietnam”

However, that is not enough. Businesses must constantly change, break through, and apply science and technology to their production and business operations to survive in a fiercely competitive market.  

Continuing in response to the campaign and the “Vietnamese Goods Conquer Vietnamese People” movement, a new symbolic phrase has emerged: “Make in VietNam”. According to Cafebiz, since its appearance at the launch of Vinfast—the first Vietnamese-made car line—on November 20, 2018, this phrase has sparked public curiosity and a sense of novelty.

“Created in Vietnam, made in Vietnam, designed in Vietnam, produced in Vietnam. Vietnamese tech companies are for Making in Vietnam” – stated Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Minister of Information and Communications. Behind this concise phrase lies a profound meaning, and it also serves as the action slogan for the National Forum on the Development of Vietnamese Technology Enterprises.

Vietnamese businesses in general, and technology companies in particular, are gradually embracing this movement, leveraging their strengths to create products that serve the Vietnamese people.
