Flexible Leadership – Adapting in an Ever-Changing World
Adhering to the goal of sharing knowledge and updating in-depth management expertise, the handpicked guest speaker for this important event was Mr. Hoang Nam Tien (Vice Chairman of the Board of FPT University). Here, Mr. Tien offered multi-faceted perspectives, practical lessons, and pointed out a method for success in today’s “on-off” economic climate: Agile management.

Looking back in history, this management theory is rooted in President Ho Chi Minh’s philosophy of “Using the unchangeable to respond to the ever-changing.” In modern business management, only the organization’s goal or DNA is “unchangeable.” But to achieve and maintain that unchangeable core, a CEO must be both a strategist and a hands-on leader, capable of adapting to the “ever-changing” with the market’s many constantly shifting parameters.
“An Agile mindset will be a necessary quality and capability for future leaders,” Mr. Hoang Nam Tien affirmed. A testament to the peak effectiveness of agile management is the leap in growth of the Grab application. Starting as a service connecting users with passenger vehicles, Grab has now become a super-app for daily life in Southeast Asia with 32.6 million customers, ranking as the number one transportation platform and the leading fintech platform. This is all thanks to its “Customer-centric” motto (customer satisfaction is the guiding principle for all business activities), and its “lightning-fast” expansion and adaptation of business methods according to user needs.

Mr. Le Viet Thang stated, “1Office is an example of Agile Management.” This is clearly demonstrated in 1Office’s operations since its inception; any ticket related to software updates goes directly to the highest-level leader.
Drawing from the hard-won experience of nearly a decade building 1Office into a leading comprehensive business management platform, Mr. Le Viet Thang remarked: “Poverty is also a kind of strength. Having no choice is a greater strength than having many choices.” Despite having overcome the initial difficult days, with the company now valued at tens of millions of dollars, the leader still clearly remembers his starting point and points out that agile management through “frugality” has been the key to sustenance and development until now.
